October 24, 2007 the sunrise brought beautiful colors against a grey western sky. We took the opportunity to grab a few pictures!copy-of-construction3-008.jpg

Tornado Visits

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

On Thursday, October 18th, a tornado touched down in Kalkaska, leaving a path of destruction and ending at our construction site. Praise the Lord – all we had “up” was concrete and blocks so no damage was done.  Isn’t God’s timing amazing?

As of October 1, they had moved 22,000 cubic feet of dirt. WOW.

building-004.jpgPrayer Bench:  stop by the site anytime and take a few minutes on the Prayer Bench to pray for the workers, their safety, the future “church” that will do ministry on in this place, the elders and construction committee, and whatever else you feel led to pray about.

BLOG FOR KALKASKA CHURCH OF CHRIST AS WE “RISE AND BUILD”

Construction Committee Ground BreakingSeptember 21st saw the Construction Committee at our property on West Kalkaska Road for a “ground breaking” and prayer time. Left to right: Gene Farrier, Jeff Badgero, Mike Babcock, Dean Farrier, Cecil Dunn, Chris Seabolt and Dan Johnson.

The following Sunday evening, September 23, about 90 people gathered at the site for another ceremonial groundbreaking and prayer time. Every person present had the opportunity to come forward and turn a shovel full of dirt!  Even the youngsters took a break from climbing on the hills of dirt to take their turn.

What an exciting evening as we asked the Lord to guide the construction and prayed for safety for the workers. We thanked Him for his grace and leading to bring us to this place!  And we asked for His continual leading – that this project will only happen with His strength and leading! It’s way bigger than any of us!!  May He be glorified through this building and may we be willing to follow Him and use this to further the Kingdom in Kalkaska!!

I am not a construction person, so this blog will be in layman’s terms – if you have any questions, I will do my best to find the answers. Contact me at joyce@kalkaskachurchofchrist.com.
